The Senate Finance Committee agreed Tuesday in a divided voice vote on a bill that would require breeders with at least 15 dogs and 30 puppies to be licensed and meet care standards.

Legislation that would crack-down on so-called "puppy mills" is making headway in the General Assembly. Senate Bill 460 passed a senate finance committee Tuesday. The bill would classify a commercial breeder as anyone who has 15 or more female dogs and 30 or more puppies for the purpose of sale. "A person may transport an unloaded, uncased shotgun or rifle in a motor vehicle while: (1) At a shooting range with permission; (2) Lawfully hunting on public or private land; (3) Travelling to or from a site the person intends to hunt that day or has hunted that day.

Police Looking For Owner of Dog (WGN-AM)- Aurora police were forced to shoot a pit bull terrier six times after it attacked a 13-year-old girl who was walking to summer school and tried to lunge at police officers, officials said Tuesday.

9:27 a.m. Someone on Harmony Road reported that their dog had been stolen. Come to find out, the dog left of its own accord. 2:00 p.m. An individual placed a rifle on top of their vehicle at the Columbia Falls dump. He then drove away without retrieving the gun.

A lawn man says that he saw the man next door shoot a B.B. gun several times at a dog. When he intervened, he says the shooter turned the B.B. gun on him, hitting him at least once.
